Using location drawing as a starting point I developed a series of large scalefashion prints that challenge the conventions of the market and create a narrative and curiosity for the consumer. l investigated the relationship of pattern-making against a body using both historical references around the kimono.
My inspiration for this project stems from research of Japanese, artworks, artefacts & iconography from books and museum visits, specifically focussing on Japanese porcelain.
Gathering information for the collection I visited The British Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the National Museum of Scotland to collect imagery from their extensive collections of Japanese items and artefacts.
The mood of my project will reflects the style, aesthetics and values of traditional Japanese art. Key words include- meditative, fluid, dream-like and sophisticated.
