I am a surface pattern designer specialising in digital design and illustration. Originally from the United States, I now call Ilkley, West Yorkshire my home. My work is very concept driven and I love to incorporate unsuspecting elements within my design, requiring a closer inspection to understand the narrative behind the design. My dissertation looked at post-Reformation memento mori and I created a collection of interiors as a response, digitally printing wallpapers and screen printing embellishments on top, resulting in an ironically luxurious reminder of the transient nature of life. I continued with the dark theme, following it up with a collection inspired by the arsenic laden wallpapers of the Victorian era, hiding poisonous plants within otherwise unassuming designs.
While I love a good macabre theme, my new home in the Yorkshire countryside also provides plenty of inspiration. Please see my website and instagram for some of my more playful, brighter designs. Regardless of the subject matter, it is my ultimate goal to tell a story.
