For my final major project I aimed to combine influences from asian designs and Art deco buildings, to create a series of prints intended for wallpaper. By visiting exhibitions based on my theme helped me gain research surrounding drawing techniques. I took inspiration from the exhibition 'Drawing on Nature: Taki Katei's Japan' as well as visits to 'The Ivy' to develop my research on luxury prints.
From this information I was able to experiment with colour, scale and composition. Taking the element of nature as my starting point, my drawings were a contemporary take of my findings. By focusing this project on luxury, high end designs I was able to research commercial, luxury spaces in order to be specific on my intended target audience. By incorporating my primary and secondary research, I was able to create a luxury wallpaper collection which expresses my passion for colour and surface pattern design.
