Whether you are a designer looking for some help to add that final sparkle to your products or a bigger brand in search for new unique designs, Swatchhub are here to help! We spoke with the lovely Brianna, founder of Swatchhub to get the inside info on this hub of creativity.
Tell us about your background before you founded Swatchhub. I grew up in Miami Florida and moved to NYC in 2010 to attend Parsons for a BFA in fashion design. In college I was drawn to Jewelry and Embellishments for my senior thesis. My first job was an assistant designer focusing on embellishments at a high end design house, KAUFMANFRANCO, I then moved on to work at J.Mendel, Ann Taylor LOFT and Tory Burch. My last position at Tory Burch was managing the embroidery team, from there I decided to focus on Swatchhub full time where I would work on designing swatch concepts and provide an embroidery design resource for the fashion and home market.
Can you explain what services Swatchhub provides? At swatch hub we specialise in embroideries and embellishments, for designers of products we provide embellished concepts and sourcing and for consumers we can bead any custom personal projects, tote bags, pillows, denim jackets, patches -pretty much anything. Actually the cushion in our give away was a special project we worked on with Phoebe Wahl who is an incredible illustrator based out of Washington. We love the style of your sequined embroidery, is all embellishment done by hand in your NYC studio?Thank You! We love sequins at Swatchhub! Our swatches are made by embroidery designers around the world. We have designers working on innovative and new ideas every month, for customer projects we work on them in house in New York or with our partner factories in China or India.
Do you offer any internships or placements for students? We are currently looking for an intern and also embroidery designers to continue to grow our swatch library!
We love your intricate designs, where does your inspiration come from? Everywhere! I am always inspired by travelling, different cultures, buildings, wallpapers, ceramics, artists, vintage magazines, fabrics' you name it!
Where do you see the future of Swatchhub? Ultimately I would like Swatchhub to be a community for people to be able to come to buy, sell and customise swatches and products from around the world including embroideries, embellishments, vintage prints, prints, fabrics, sweaters, knits and more.
We would like to introduce you all to Pheobe Wahl who is the very talented artist that designed our amazing giveaway prize that is absolutely beautiful and a total one-off!
